Time to cover up - winters coming!

Whilst some of you are happy to use your ride all year round, there are a good number that are or will be laying up their ride over winter to avoid the salty roads and freezing temperatures.

The Surrey Street Rodders Wheels Day 2009

Ask the average person in the street what the Easter Bank Holiday is famous for and the common answer will be rain and traffic jams!

But ask any petrol head with motor oil running through their veins and the answer will not be inclement weather or traffic jams, you will be told without hesitation - The Surrey Street Rodders Wheels Day.

Wheels Day is coming!

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the Surrey Street Rodders – "Wheels Day". This is the first big show of the season that puts a stake in the ground of the calendar, telling us that the better weathers coming, and that it is time to wake those American sleeping beauties from their winter slumber.

Classic and American is now LIVE!

It’s taken a great deal of time, effort and resource to get us to this point so thank you to all those involved – in particular “the Prof”. At least that what we like to call him. William and I might be good with cars, but when it came to creating the website that we believed the American Car Scene needed, we couldn’t have done it without the Prof’s help.

Cash for Clunkers – is the whole idea a clunker?

It’s probably just me, but I think the whole scheme is a crock. The question is what exactly is being addressed by this scheme, because no matter which angle I approach it from it doesn’t stack.

HOT ROD DRAGS 21st ANNIVERSARY

As someone who has been into Rods and Customs right from the moment I saw “American Graffiti” back in the mid 70’s, I don’t kno

Good Times from Bad Times

The latter part of 2008 brought financial difficulties for all of us with the global economy on its knees and the UK loosing that enviable two dollars to the pound. There was serious talk of doom and gloom and so going into 2009 I wondered how much effect it would have on the American and Rod & Custom car scene.

Breakfast followed by a little bit of Old Skool Ford

The first C&A.com Breakfast Meet was held on Sunday 6th September at the Chalet Café in Cowfold.

The story of "Silhouette" - a 1967 Camaro

SilhouetteSilhouetteI saw “Silhouette” at Worthing American, Rod and Custom in July and instantly recognised it from the front cover of a 1980’s book that I have called “The Complete Customiser” by Steven Myatt.

Originally created by Mick Cooke this Camaro was well known on the custom scene for many years, but it has had a rough ride over the years and if this car could talk what a tale I’m sure it could tell.

Spotted - 57 Chevy Bel Air - ride!

This stunning 57 Chevy was spotted at Worthing American, Rod & Custom.

Kevin has owned this Chevy for 7 years now. Originally the car was white but after two years of ownership, Kevin decided to carry out a full body off restoration of the Chevy.

Worthing American, Rod & Custom 2009 – report

Was it just me or was everyone obsessively checking the weather reports leading up to Sunday?

Worthing American, Rod & Custom – 26th July

I can hardly believe we are already into July with a number of shows already having been and gone - It doesn’t seem that long ago we were braving the weather at Wheels Day at the start of the season!

70's Time Warp Hotrod

Spotted this hotrod at the Fathers Day meet at Old Barn Nursery and it took me straight back to the days of eagerly awaiting the monthly edition of Custom Car when I was a lad (nothing to do with the scantily clad beauty draped over the middle page your honour, I swear). The van was originally rodded in the early seventies and was a fetching shade of green then dayglo orange ! Barry Padwick got this 1947 ex GPO Morris Z8 van from a bloke in the West country who was using it as his job van and to advertise his plastering business (with that V8 he must have got around pretty quick). Needless to say it was a bit of a state when Barry got it.

Jim T's 1968 Camaro

Spotted at a soggy Lazy Sunday was Jim T's '68 Pro Toured Camaro. Jim mini tubbed the car himself and squeezed 10" wide rims on the back.

The car has a 350 SBC with a tri carb set up and can defend itself with NOS if it feels threatened. Other mods are, Hotchkis rear suspension, 4" fibreglass cowl induction hood, shaved handles and a custom interior.

The death knoll chimes for Pontiac

It's no secret that GM are going through a particularly tough time and are set to cut around 21,000 jobs this year as it focuses on the June deadline for the revamp of its business.

The Boneshakers - April Meet

The Boneshakers regularly meet on the 1st Sunday of the month at The Roebuck Inn near Lewes, and the weather couldn’t have been better for their April Meet. A warm sunny Sunday early in the year encouraged a great turn out giving plenty to see and lots to talk about.

Not having been to a Boneshakers meet before I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect or whether my 70’s Americana would fit in with their scene. But I must say they are a friendly bunch who were very welcoming and encourage all types and styles of vehicles to their meet.

The Fast & Furious: New Model, Original Parts - Directed by Justin Lin.

The Fast and Furious franchise has gone from strength to strength using that always popular mix of suped up cars and girls, and the latest offering doesn't disapoint.

This film provides something for all car enthusiasts with the spectrum of cars used for the movie including Muscle Cars, Tuners and Exotics, with the well known Camaro "Big Red" also making an appearance.
