Ace Cafe & Chelsea Cruise - June 2010
On a perfect sunny Saturday in June an ambitious outing was agreed. The plan was to all meet up and travel to the Fairmile in Cobham for a brief stop and then on up the A3 to the North Circular and take in the Mopar meet at the Ace Cafe, then having been feed and watered we would roll homeward via Chelsea and take in the Chelsea Cruise.
Sounded like a good plan but as can be the way if you try to take in too much in too shorter space of time, it can all go wrong and that's what nearly happened!
London to Brighton V8 Rumble!
"This event was brought to you by the power of Facebook!" I remember thinking to myself as I drove into the services at Pease Pottage one sunny Sunday in May.
For those that didn't attend the event I'll try to paint the picture. Basically there is a group of enthusiasts based in London and a group based on the south coast who are all friends and often talk cars etc on Facebook. As it was cruzin season it was thought to be a good idea to all meet up for a run down to Brighton.
To make the most of the drive, the London crew drove down and the South Coast crew drove up and all met up at the services at Pease Pottage just off the M23 for the run down to Brighton.
Victory Wheelers - 5th Hayling Island Reunion
The middle May saw the Victory Wheelers 5th Hayling Island Reunion. Last year this fell on the same day as American Car World's "Lazy Sunday", and I remember being on route to Lazy Sunday and seeing some wonderful looking machines going the other way. As I got closer to my destination on that day I thought to myself - "I've picked the wrong event!"
So this year it was going to be Hayling Island no matter what the weather.
A number of Boneshakers were going and their route was to rumble along the A27. They were happy for anyone wanting to join their group to pick a layby on route and join on the end of the procession as they went passed.
The Royal Coach, Shoreham - April 2010
Having enjoyed the run out to the Guildford Cruise in April, and seeing as the weather had come to the party for the second weekend in a row, I decided that it would be criminal not to find a suitable venue to roll over the weekend, before putting the nose back to the grind stone the following week.
After a couple of calls and texts to see what was on, I decided to roll down to the Royal Coach in Shoreham.
For those who don’t know, this is a meet held every 2nd Sunday of the month. Details are listed in the “meets & cruises” under the “Events” section.
Easter Sunday - Guildford Cruise
Following a wet Wheels Day the Easter weekend rolled in with some fairly reasonable weather, and having sorted the kids with Easter Eggs etc I was looking for somewhere to roll to in my ride before Easter Sunday’s Dinner.
So after sending round a couple of text messages, Ron and Kevin were up for a run out. But as the day was rolling past at a rate of knots it was too late to pop down to the Boneshakers meet, so what else – Guildford we thought.
The Guildford Cruise happens on the first Sunday of every month from about 4pm onwards at Ladymead Retail Park in Guildford, with most parking in front of or around the Burger King.
Even the Viper can't Dodge its demise
Introduced in 1992 the Dodge Viper was an instant hit offerring a traditional sports car layout of front engine, rear wheel drive and with awsome power. The Viper offered performance stats that challenged many other sports cars costing considerably more money and developed a racing pedigree that then translated over to newer models.
The summer of 2010 will see the last incarnation of the Viper. Some 18 years after hitting the streets, the Dodge Viper SRT "Final Edition" will be available but in very limited numbers - 50 in all. The limited edition will be available in all body styles and will have a few extra race-born tweaks to ensure the Viper finishes on a high in terms of performance and handling.

Wheels Day 2010 - report
35th Wheels Day
Another Wheels Day has come and gone, and it’s incredible to think that 2010 marked the 35th Wheels Day – well done to the Surrey Street Rodders.
I know from the online forums, Facebook and my own experiences with fellow cruzers, there was the usual angst over the weather - and as per tradition some rain was involved.
Classicandamerican.com 2009 Review (part 2)
If you didn't spot your ride in the first part take a look at this as it could well be in there.
We are planning to bring you many more videos in 2010, with footage from more shows, more meets and of course more cruzes - lets just hope the weather is on our side because its always more enjoyable to reflect on a warm sunny day over a cold and damp one!
Talking of which - if the review video leaves you wanting more then why not visit the gallery with photos from last year and before.
Only 2 weeks to Wheels Day!

If you are anything like me, you will have been itching for the first couple of months or so of 2010 to pass so that you can get to "car season".
We have had snow, ice and freezing temperatures so far in 2010 and now hopefully warmer and dryer times ahead!

End of the line for the Chevy Big Block
After a production run that lasted over 50 years the end of 2009 was also the end of production for the Chevy Big Block. Produced at GM’s Tonawanda plant there were 5 million Chevy Big Blocks made during this time, with the final engine being signed by all the workers. This final engine is to be kept for the GM Heritage Centre.
