SPOTTED !

This page will feature the sort of cars that do it for me. There'll be an assortment of styles but they all have one thing in common. They made me stop in my tracks and go, WOW ! So keep checking the page to see if anything new has been added.

70's Time Warp Hotrod

Spotted this hotrod at the Fathers Day meet at Old Barn Nursery and it took me straight back to the days of eagerly awaiting the monthly edition of Custom Car when I was a lad (nothing to do with the scantily clad beauty draped over the middle page your honour, I swear). The van was originally rodded in the early seventies and was a fetching shade of green then dayglo orange ! Barry Padwick got this 1947 ex GPO Morris Z8 van from a bloke in the West country who was using it as his job van and to advertise his plastering business (with that V8 he must have got around pretty quick). Needless to say it was a bit of a state when Barry got it.

Jim T's 1968 Camaro

Spotted at a soggy Lazy Sunday was Jim T's '68 Pro Toured Camaro. Jim mini tubbed the car himself and squeezed 10" wide rims on the back.

The car has a 350 SBC with a tri carb set up and can defend itself with NOS if it feels threatened. Other mods are, Hotchkis rear suspension, 4" fibreglass cowl induction hood, shaved handles and a custom interior.

1967 Camaro "Boom Boom Shake The Room"

As a fellow Camaro owner I couldn't resist showing you this outrageous '67. Once again I couldn't locate the owner but saw and heard the car as it left the showground. Surrey Muscle have a reputation for having mega horsepower cars in their club. This '67 certainly didn't look or sound like it was letting the side down, awesome !

Paul's 1958 Chevy Impala Convertible

Another outstanding car I saw at Wheelsday was this stunning '58 Impala convertible. It had arrived from Nebraska 19 years ago where the harsh weather had taken it's toll and Paul got it as a complete basket case. After taking ownership what can only be described as a single minded obsession to restore the car took place. The car has been fitted with a 327 small block chevy and turbo 350 transmission from a Corvette (Paul still has the original block and trans). Rayvern Hydraulics hadn't started to make their own air ride kit back then, so Paul had to make his own system, sourcing all the parts he needed from the States. All the work on the Impala was carried out by Paul with the exception of the paint job. The car is sprayed in a shade called Cay Coral which was an original colour option back in the '50s. When I asked Paul if he could do one thing to the car, what would it be ? Without hesitation he said, strip it down and respray it because the paint job isn't good enough. Man, it looked perfect to me, for some people, like Paul, the standards they set themselves is very high. I can only look on with admiration and envy.

THE DEVILS CAR

I saw this car lurking near the exit of the showground but couldn't track down the owner to get details. As I was taking the photos I heard a small boy behind me ask his Dad what it was ? his Dad replied "that son, is the Devils car".

Steve's 1969 Plymouth Road Runner

SPOTTED AT WHEELS DAY 2009 - Steve drove his car in the rain to be at Wheels Day and he's enjoying this Road Runner that has taken him nearly 22 years to get to what you see here. This is a beautifully restored car which is now better than when it left the factory. Steve says there are still things to sort out, all I'll say is, perfection can become an obsession :-)
