The Distance to the Moon: A Roadtrip into the American Dream
By James Morgan.
Although this book has been out a while it does give an interesting insight to the American love of the automobile. The book's title was inspired by John Updike who had calculated that the average male American drives the equivalent of the distance from the earth to the moon every 17 years. This book takes us a long way toward understanding why.

CHRYSLER’S TURBINE CAR - The Rise & Fall of Detroit's Coolest Creation
By Steve Lehto. Foreword by Jay Leno.
If ever there was a candidate for car of the future then this would be on the shortlist. Following Chrysler's involvement with turbo prop aircraft during the second world war their engineering dept sought to apply the technology to cars.
It took Chrysler's development team less than ten years to create a working protoype under the direction of George Huebner Jr Chrysler's Director of Research. There was certainly a lot of interest in this novel form of propulsion and Chrysler eventually produced over 50 turbine powered cars which were all copper in colour with black vinyl roofs. These were supplied to families who had been selected at random in order to drive and use under normal day to day conditions. This test period lasted from 1963 until 1966 after which unfortunately most of the cars were destroyed although some remain preserved in various museums.
This book aims to find out why the project ended and what happened to the cars and is an ideal distraction from standing in a cold garage over Christmas dreaming of warmer weather! To buy this book why not visit our online store Click Here
Legendary Corvettes: The 'Vettes Made Famous on Track and Screen'
By Randy Leffingwell. Photography by Dave Wendt.
From the first model onwards the style and look of the Corvette has ensured it's appearance in numerous feature films and television shows. As a fan of the Corvette myself I don't think that there can ever be too much written about them and indeed this book; Legendary Corvettes: The 'Vettes Made Famous on Track and Screen', is a welcome addition.
This book features 18 'Legendary Corvettes' that have appeared over the years on film or on the track and would be familiar to the knowledgable fan, what's new is this books' use of David Wendt's excellent photography that brings these beautiful cars to life. The detail and histories about the cars is excellent combined with contributions from Corvette experts such as David Burroughs and John Amgwert.
This book would make a very good christmas present for the serious Corvette enthusiast and it is currently available from our online store: Click Here and other retailers.
