Guildford Cruise - May 09

Guildford Cruise - May 09I'm not wishing to tempt fate, but have you noticed that we have enjoyed two successive first Sunday's of the month when the weather was dry and sunny!

Unsurprisingly the response to the good weather was a great turnout at the Guildford Cruise this Sunday. As the superstore shoppers rolled out of the car park by Halfords and Burger King, a definite rumble could be heard in the distance. As the rumble got louder and louder the V8’s started rolling in occassionally seperated by a bike - most of which were noisier than the cars!

Any Pontiac fan would have been pleased with the turnout, and there were also several Corvettes. Whilst some marques had multiple representation, the overall diversity of vehicles on display was considerable and spanned many years of automobile production – a rewarding site for any petrol head.

The glow of the Sunday afternoon sunshine provided the perfect ambiance to talk cars, view all the rides and generally just let a few hours slip by.

Some years back the “hot hatch” boys muscled their way in, and the Guildford Cruise fell out of favour with many regulars as a result. But it’s now back to being an event for classics, street rods, yanks and customs.

So if you haven’t been for a while or if you have yet to go, come on down it’s a good way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon.
