Breakfast followed by a little bit of Old Skool Ford

The first C&A.com Breakfast Meet was held on Sunday 6th September at the Chalet Café in Cowfold. Whilst the turnout was limited, we are aware that this date clashed with a couple of other car events and hangovers for some of you - But thanks to those of you who let us know and hope you’re feeling better now!

The great thing about a breakfast meet is that it gives a good reason to go out and drive your car and you can be back home with a good part of the day left to do other things with you family if you need to. This said I’m not sure my neighbours would agree as whole heartedly as me.

Whilst I love the sound of my V8 at anytime of night or day, I’m not sure all of them appreciated it being an early Sunday morning alarm to wake them from their slumber!

With the weather report promising a nice day and the morning sun glinting off the chromework of the cars, we set off. The run out to the Chalet Café was all the more enjoyable because of the lack of other traffic on the roads at that time of the day, allowing us to progress with ease and arrive in good time.

There were already a good number of bikers in attendance as we arrived, and within a short time of parking up and making our way over to the café for a mug of tea and a bacon butty, so many questions about bikers became our topic of discussion.

• What time do they get up to be there so settled before us?
• Why do they seem less jaded than us from the night before?
• How can we get leather clad women to come out with us & our cars?
• Should we have a Muscle Babes section on the site?

Whilst the last question started well, it soon became a concern that we might end up with South African bodybuilding transvestites loading pictures of themselves - I won’t go on but you can see where the topic of conversation was going!

From the café we decided to head down to the Old Skool Ford meet in Crawley, just a short trip down the A23, as it gave us another excuse to do some more miles before returning home.

As we drew close to Crawley we picked up a couple of Street Rods also heading down to the Old Skool Ford meet, both of which we’d seen at Seaford a couple of weeks previous.

This Old Skool Ford meet mainly consisted of Mk1 Escorts and Cortina’s with some Street Rods / Ford Pop’s for good measure. The meet was also open to all makes of classic or custom machines – that said it didn’t stop William and Jamie with the only two Chevy’s in the park wondering why they had been talked into attending a Ford meet!

Still I think they enjoyed themselves – they are at least still talking to me!

We will be planning another C&A.com Breakfast Meet soon and will endeavour to co-ordinate the date and timing with other events going on, so do keep checking back for details.

Here’s a few photos from the day.
