The Royal Coach, Shoreham - April 2010

Having enjoyed the run out to the Guildford Cruise in April, and seeing as the weather had come to the party for the second weekend in a row, I decided that it would be criminal not to find a suitable venue to roll over the weekend, before putting the nose back to the grind stone the following week.

After a couple of calls and texts to see what was on, I decided to roll down to the Royal Coach in Shoreham.

For those who don’t know, this is a meet held every 2nd Sunday of the month. Details are listed in the “meets & cruises” under the “Events” section.

Whilst I had heard of this meet, I had never attended. So, knowing that there would be at least a few familiar faces, I swiped the “Tom Tom” from “her in doors car” and set my destination and rumbled down to Shoreham enjoying the sunshine, the roads and most of all driving my ride.

As I got closer to Shoreham I passed & picked up a few classics but no yanks, rods or gassers, hmmmm I thought is anyone else going?

Looking at the sat nav there was under a mile to go, so I swung round the next roundabout and started down the next straight only to see a stack of cars to my left in a pub car park with a couple of folks waving at me. Wonder what’s going on there I thought, then as I passed the pub sign I noticed it was the Royal Coach! – Doh.

I was now well passed the entrance and frantically looking for a place to turn round. With the road narrowing with parked cars ahead I noticed a side road on my right that was clear, he we go, I swung hard round a let a few horse go to help the back round and now I was heading back towards my destination!

I pulled into the car park and parked up with the others. A few more arrived as the afternoon went on. As you will see from the gallery, there was a good mix of rides and everyone was great company.

As the afternoon turned to evening the cars dispersed, some more noticeably than others!

If you haven’t been before take a run out – it makes for a good excuse to get your ride out and is a very pleasant was to spend an afternoon.
