Fathers Day at The Old Barn Nursery - report
A week or so ago a few of us were wondering what to do on Fathers day?
But then Kevin from South Coast Customs came to our rescue!
Kevin is known not only for supplying us with all the parts and bits needed to keep our yanks running (sometimes faster than they did before), but also for the excellent work in putting on the Worthing American, Rod and Custom show in The Steyne.
Kevin received a late call from the nursery wanting to put on a display of classic and American cars for the Sunday as part of their open day – not the best choice of dates as there was due to be a mass exodus of yanks & customs to Beaulie that weekend!
The word was put out and we posted the details on the site to help rally to the cause - and what a great turnout there was.
The early arrivals had to muscle a few pensioners out our reserved parking area (why do pensioners always get up so early?) and some strategic parking ensured space was then available for those arriving a little later.
With refreshments provided by the nursery and a good mix of machines including bikes and a trike, the day provided a great opportunity to share stories and make some new friends.
Throughout the day the staff looking after the Landrover and BMW/Mini displays looked across enviously not only because of the hardware we had lined up opposite them, but also the crowds we had around us – still the weather was good and at least they could work on their tan!
The feedback on the day was very favourable towards setting up a breakfast meet so please keep an eye on the site we will post up details very soon.
